Eyebrow restoration is one of the most rewarding procedures we do. It’s small, it’s precise, and the results transform how people see themselves in the mirror every single morning.
If you’ve been filling in your brows with pencil every day — or worse, if you’ve stopped trying because nothing looks natural — let me explain what’s possible.
Prefer to see results first? Here are our eyebrow transplant before-and-after cases.
Why Eyebrows Thin or Disappear
There are a few common culprits:
Over-plucking from the 90s and early 2000s. If you went through the pencil-thin brow era, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Years of aggressive plucking can permanently damage follicles. The hair just stops coming back.
Genetics. Some people are born with naturally sparse brows. No amount of serums or supplements is going to change that.
Aging. Brows get thinner with age, just like scalp hair. For some people, it happens earlier and more noticeably.
Medical conditions. Thyroid disorders, alopecia areata, certain medications, and chemotherapy can all cause eyebrow loss.
Tattoos gone wrong. Old eyebrow tattoos (not modern microblading) can damage the skin and follicles underneath.
Trauma or scarring. Accidents, burns, or surgeries in the brow area can leave bald patches.
How Eyebrow Transplants Work
We take individual hair follicles from your scalp — usually from behind the ear where the hair is finest — and place them into the eyebrow area one by one. We can use either FUE or FUT extraction depending on your situation.
The critical detail is direction. Eyebrow hairs grow in very specific directions — they arc across the brow in a natural pattern. Getting this right is what makes the difference between “brows” and “eyebrows that look real.” Every single graft is placed with intention.
The Procedure Itself
Eyebrow transplants take about 3-4 hours. You’re awake, comfortable, and the whole thing feels more like a tattoo appointment than surgery. Local anesthetic handles any discomfort.
We work from a design we agree on beforehand — matching your face shape, your other features, and the look you want. If you want fuller arches, more length, better symmetry, or a complete rebuild, we can do any of it.
Recovery
First 5-7 days: Small scabs and crusting in the transplanted area. Don’t pick at them. They’ll flake off on their own.
2-4 weeks: The transplanted hairs shed. This is normal — the follicles are resting, not dead.
3-4 months: New growth begins. You’ll see the hairs coming in.
Up to 15 months: Full results. Eyebrow hairs grow slower than scalp hair, so the full effect takes a bit longer than a scalp transplant.
Important: They Grow Like Scalp Hair
Here’s something people don’t always realize: since the donor hairs come from your scalp, they’ll continue to grow at scalp-hair rates. That means you’ll need to trim them regularly — probably every 1-2 weeks once they’re fully in. It takes maybe 30 seconds with small scissors. Most patients tell me they don’t mind at all.
Why It’s So Satisfying
The face is the first thing people see. Eyebrows frame your eyes, define your expressions, and affect how “finished” you look even without makeup. When we restore eyebrows for someone who’s been dealing with sparse brows for 20 years, the reaction is almost always the same: “I look like myself again.”
That never gets old.
Who It Works For
Great candidates include:
- Anyone with sparse or missing brows they want permanently restored
- People tired of daily makeup or microblading touch-ups
- Patients with scar tissue or tattoo damage in the brow area
- Men and women equally — this isn’t a gendered procedure
